Only after all issues have been discussed and questions answered will he proceed with any dental work.
Teeth bonding is a term with two meanings.
- It refers to a high-tech plastic material used by cosmetic dentists to create invisible fillings in front teeth or to somehow change their appearance
- It also refers to the procedure that affixes different materials or restorations to the teeth
Tooth bonding is a versatile and useful plastic/resin substance. It can be used to correct many minor dental defects, such as:
- Small gaps between teeth
- Slight crookedness
- Unevenly sized teeth
- Discoloration that does not respond to tooth whitening
- Small chips
- Shallow cracks
Treatments take only one visit. The bonding comes in a variety of shades and Dr. Greenhalgh will choose one to closely match your tooth enamel.
He applies the dental bonding incrementally, building up the restoration necessary for your particular defect. After doing any necessary fine-tuning, he uses a curing light for a few seconds to harden the dental bonding.
Now it is hard and durable and firmly affixed to the tooth. You can care for it in the same way you care for your natural teeth, with daily brushing and flossing to remove plaque and food particles from all surfaces. It could be damaged if you have a habit of chewing on assorted hard things like pens or ice.
